Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)

MDI product spills typically leave a brown or amber stain on the cladding, which can look dirty and unappealing. To improve the appearance of tank containers dedicated to handling MDI and/or TDI, they are often equipped with brown cladding.

Even though MDI is not classified as hazardous, it is often managed under the ISOPA guidelines in many countries. The discharge methods and connections for tank containers are highly important. Since the product reacts with moisture, the best method is to use a closed system with nitrogen overpressure. If air is used for discharge, we recommend using a silica gel filter to reduce moisture exposure.
